“Uddhaṁ pādatalā amma,

My dear mother, examine this body,

अधोa·dho वेve केसमत्थका;ke·sa·mat·tha·kā

adho ve kesamatthakā;

up from the soles of the feet,

पच्चवेक्खस्सुमंpac·ca·vek·khas·su·maṃ कायं,kā·yaṃ

Paccavekkhassumaṁ kāyaṁ,

and down from the tips of the hairs,

असुचिंa·su·ciṃ पूतिगन्धिकं।pū·ti·gan·dhi·kaṃ

asuciṁ pūtigandhikaṁ.

so impure and foul-smelling.

एवंe·vaṃ विहरमानाय,vi·ha·ra·mā·nā·ya

Evaṁ viharamānāya,

Meditating like this,

सब्बोsab·bo रागोrā·go समूहतो;sa·mū·ha·to

sabbo rāgo samūhato;

all my lust is eradicated.

परिळाहोpa·ri·ḷā·ho समुच्छिन्नो,sa·muc·chin·no

Pariḷāho samucchinno,

The fever of passion is cut off,

सीतिभूताम्हिsī·ti·bhū·tām·hi निब्बुता”ति।nib·bu·tā

sītibhūtāmhi nibbutā”ti.

I’m cooled and quenched.
