Compare Dutch moerbezie, moerbei (“mulberry”), German Maulbeere (“mulberry”).
* A variant of Mowbray, altered by folk etymology.
* Reduced Anglicized form of Irish Ó Maoilbhearaigh (“descendant of the devotee of (Saint) Bearach”).
