The price for my services

सुङ्कोsuṅ·ko मेme तत्थकोtat·tha·ko अहु;a·hu

suṅko me tatthako ahu;

amounted to the nation of Kāsi.

तंtaṃ कत्वाkat·vā नेगमोne·ga·mo अग्घं,ag·ghaṃ

Taṁ katvā negamo agghaṁ,

By setting that price,

अड्ढेनग्घंaḍ·ḍhe·nag·ghaṃ ठपेसिṭha·pe·si मं।maṃ

aḍḍhenagghaṁ ṭhapesi maṁ.

the townsfolk made me priceless.

अथa·tha निब्बिन्दहंnib·bin·da·haṃ रूपे,rū·pe

Atha nibbindahaṁ rūpe,

Then, growing disillusioned with my form,

निब्बिन्दञ्चnib·bin·dañ·ca विरज्जहं;vi·raj·ja·haṃ

nibbindañca virajjahaṁ;

I became dispassionate.

माmā पुनpu·na जातिसंसारं,jā·ti·saṃ·sā·raṃ

Mā puna jātisaṁsāraṁ,

Don’t journey on and on,

सन्धावेय्यंsan·dhā·vey·yaṃ पुनप्पुनं;pu·nap·pu·naṃ

sandhāveyyaṁ punappunaṁ;

transmigrating through rebirths!

तिस्सोtis·so विज्जाvij·jā सच्छिकता,sac·chi·ka·tā

Tisso vijjā sacchikatā,

I’ve realized the three knowledges,

कतंka·taṃ बुद्धस्सbud·dhas·sa सासनन्”ति।sā·sa·nan

kataṁ buddhassa sāsanan”ti.

and fulfilled the Buddha’s instructions.
